Rapier Practice armour/garb

I have made some 'easy to put on' rapier garb (that can go over jeans or a skirt) for practice, as it is inconvenient to put all my layers on for a quick fight...

My full rapier garb: hose, drawers, camicia, sottana (dress), partlet, gloves..

Not so easy for impromptu practice..

I have made a jacket based on the embroidered Elizabethan jackets. I based the pattern on those in Tudor Tailor.

The buttons were pewter replicas I purchased from Steve Millington Pewter, a few years ago.

I finally have a new rapier mask, and got to use some printed cotton, I have had in store for about 5 years, for the rapier coif.

Red Linen Dress

This one is for my daughter who wants a 'grown up dress'

It is of red linen, with small, gathered baragoni, handsewn eyelets and a pintuck above the hem.
The neckline is snipped, as seen in many Florentine portraits. The sleeves are slashed with silk thread covered buttons.

Lochac A&S Championship Pouch, XLIV

I have finished the Championship pouch, for this years A&S Champion. It is made of blue velveteen, lined with white linen. The Red cords were handknitted. The embroidery was done in silk and silver. I tried my hand at some raised embroidery... will need more practice.
The eyelets were handsewn with embroidery silk.
The spangles are 'gold' coloured metal (of unknown origin that I inherited somewhere)...
I will be posting this soon.

I am looking for any SCA people who are willing to attend and teach us something!
The website is at
If you are really looking for a major event, the weekend before we have La Prova Dura and the Rattan Symposium the week between.. lots of fun for all!

That Red Dress I mentioned...

Hopefully this picture will add!

Just Checking

I am trying out a new thing for the blog. Most of the stuff here will be SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) or Renaissance/Medieval Recreation related... Like the Red Pisa Dress I saw in Pisa, at the 2008 Textile Colloqium... sigh
